Chief Anesthetist Officer

Dr. Andrew Sanders Jr. is a seasoned Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with an illustrious career spanning over 27 years, showcasing his expertise in both medical and administrative capacities. Armed with a DNAP, MSN, MBA, and MHA, Andrew brings a distinctive blend of clinical proficiency and managerial prowess to the forefront of his profession.

Currently serving as the Chief Anesthetist Officer at OrthoMed Staffing LLC, Andrew assumes a pivotal role in overseeing the anesthesia services offered by the company. His strategic approach involves conducting thorough market analyses to gauge the demand for anesthesia services, leading to enhanced quality outcomes achieved through the recruitment and training of highly skilled anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other anesthesia providers.

Before stepping into his current role, Andrew held positions of significant responsibility. Notably, as a Commander in the United States Navy, he served as the Department Head and Chief Nurse Anesthetist at Joint Command Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, where he also held the position of Chief of OB Anesthesia. His diverse experiences include serving as a Division Officer at Navy Hospital San Diego, contributing to managing the Regional Acute Care Service, and providing instruction to Physician Staff, Residents, and Student Nurse Anesthetists.

Andrew's military service extended to being the S3 operations/intelligence training officer for a Medical Logistic Training Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California. In this role, he provided crucial combat, marksman, combat life-saving, and safety training for over 800 Marines and sailors in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Additionally, he served as the clinical coordinator, managing the healthcare needs of 450 Navy personnel across multiple on-base and off-base clinics spanning three states. He supervised 26 Emergency Medical Technicians, ensuring round-the-clock medical coverage for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

Beyond his clinical and managerial accomplishments, Andrew has significantly contributed to the field through research and publication. His work, including the publication "Effects of a 30-mL Epidural Normal Saline Bolus on Time to Full Motor Recovery in Parturient Who Received Patient-Controlled Epidural Analgesia With 0.125% Bupivacaine With 2 µg/mL of Fentanyl," stands testament to his commitment to advancing anesthesia care. Furthermore, his doctoral capstone project, "Evaluating the Impact of an Educational Intervention on CRNAs' Knowledge and Implementation of Deep Vein Thrombosis Prophylaxis Strategies," underscores his dedication to continuous improvement in the profession.
